Overview

Thru our trip we are excited to present you the oldest and the largest national park in Croatia, Plitvice Lakes. The park is situated in the mountainous region of Croatia, between the Mala Kapela mountain range in the west and northwest, and the Lička Plješivica mountain range to the southeast. With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, and already at 1949, it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register and proclaimed Croatia’s first national park. The process of tufa formation, which results in the building of the tufa, or travertine, barriers and resulted in the creation of the lakes, is the outstanding universal value, for which the beauty of the Plitvice Lakes were internationally recognised. In 1997, the boundaries of the national park were expanded, and today it covers an area just under 300 km2. The park is primarily covered in forest vegetation, with smaller areas under grasslands. The most attractive part of the park – the lakes – cover just under 1% of the total park area. The lake system is comprised of 16 lake that are situated at a different level and flow one into another via series of cascades and waterfalls. Due to the geological substrate and characteristic hydrogeological conditions, the lake system has been divided into the Upper and Lower lakes, gentle and smooth shores of southern Upper lakes and wild, steep and narrow canyon of northern Lower lakes. Enjoy natural beauty and cristal clear water, combination of changing colors that makes the beauty of Plitvice Lakes more powerfull. Thru all of this, you can be led by experienced guide and also take an opportunity to enjoy a short boat ride on Kozjak lake and panoramic train ride through the beech and fir forest. Also, we suggest to taste typical local dishes (meat, fish and vegeterian menu) from this area in typical local restaurant. An electric train will take you back to the beginning of your adventure. Your driver will
wait for you to take you back to Kaštela!

After all, you can always enjoy the memory of beauty of the Plitvice Lakes and dream to come back and visit them again with us!
